 Trophy Table

Twenty four anglers found the scoreboard in the 2001 CCC, a vast improvement from 11 anglers a year ago.  However, only forty fish were caught, indicating spread out fish and a lot of solitary catches.  Most of the multiple catches were from anglers on or near the end pegs.  The table below illustrates the final standings:

Major Awards

2001 North American Carp Champion Bruce Mitchell

The top two finishers were separated by a scant 3 ounces, with Bruce Mitchell barely passing Tom Ferris for the top spot.  An extra serving of corn might have tipped the scales the other way.  Bruce's winning bait was field corn flavored with strawberry Jello and sugar.

Paul Pezalla presents the gigantic "jewel-encrusted" Chicago Carp King belt buckle to..
..Oklahoma CAG chairman Jack Rowe for his 17 lb. 4 oz. fish, the single largest carp of the day

Section winners Tom Ferris and Dave Rutcosky select their prizes..

Elliot Bennett presents the "Elliot Bennett Damn Yankee Award for Creative Carp Gear" to..(sorry, I forgot who this was-please clue me in if you know:o)

Once again Paul Pezalla of Wacker Baits organized a successful event, and in a brand new location.  With the ongoing construction of Wacker Ave. and relative ease that permits were secured from the city of Joliet, the CCC will probably be held there again next year.
