| As mentioned earlier, this
was a tough CCC, with only 11 anglers out of 108 actually catching fish.
Thirty two fish were caught, for a total of 255 lbs. 14 oz. One of
the stewards did not get to weigh or record one single fish, turning in
a blank sector score- card, an unused scale and still brand-new weigh sling
:-( But that's fishing. Without further ado, here are the tournament
winners and recorded standings: |

Other award winners:
Bob Baer - North American
Spodding Champion for accuracy
C.H. Lowery - Elliott Bennet
Damn Yankee Award for Creative Carp Gear
| The competition was dominated
by expert carper Max Cottis of Fox International, an English tackle company.
He swept the top three awards for 4 heaviest fish, single largest fish
and heaviest total bag. He also caught the most fish at six.
There was a little controversy
about Max' tactic of actually crossing the Columbus Dr. bridge and feeding
the far wall area directly from the other side of the River - talk about
precision chumming! One fisherman with international competition
experience noted that even though the rules may not specifically prohibit
it, such a tactic goes beyond the spirit of the competition. Can you
imagine 108 anglers running around to the other side sloshing buckets of
chum after them? Regardless, it was pretty darn clever... |

All in all, the Chicago Carp
Classic is a good chance to either watch or fish next to some of the finest
carp anglers in the world, within the surreal setting of beautiful downtown
Chicago. Kudos to Paul Pezalla for organizing a fun and successful
event.
