I am pleased to announce the creation of the first annual Canadian Match Fishing Championships. This first ever Canadian Match Fishing Championships will be held on the prestigious Little River in Windsor Ontario Canada. The match will be an open event enticing anglers from across Canada and the USA. Please take the time to read over all the information and be sure to pre-register ASAP. Pegging will be limited to the first 40-45 anglers. Pegs will be reserved on a first come basis.

Peg Draw: 8.30 A.M
Match Start: 10.00 A.M
Match Ends: 2.00 P.M
Weigh In: 3.00 P.M
Results: 4.00 P.M

Directions to Little River

From The USA (Ambassador Bridge)
Exit the bridge and make your first left onto College.
Once on college take the first left onto Sunset.
Follow Sunset towards Riverside Drive.
At Riverside Drive turn Right and follow all the way to Riverdale.
At Riverdale, turn Right.
Once on Riverdale go to the second stop sign and turn Left.
Go over the bridge and head to the pavilion.

From London:
Exit the 401 at Manning Road.
Follow Manning Road all the way to Riverside Drive.
Turn Left onto Riverside Drive.
Follow Riverside Drive to Riverdale.
Turn Left onto Riverdale.
Go to the second stop sign and turn Left.
Go over the bridge and head to the Pavilion.

Licences

Wally’s Bait & Tackle (Team USA this is were you get your licences)
Follow the directions to get to Riverside Drive.
Once you get to Riverside Drive turn Left.
Follow Riverside Drive under the bridge.
Wally’s Bait & Tackle is about a ½ Mile on the Left after the bridge.

Entry Fee, Pools & Prices

Entry Fee: $20.00
Medals will be awarded to top three Anglers overall. Medals will also be awarded to the top three Canadian Anglers.
A Trophy/Plaque will be awarded to the top Canadian Angler.
Top Canadian will be crowned Canadian Match Fishing Champion.

Big Fish $10.00 1st, 2nd, 3rd place overall

Please Note: Pre-registration is required due to venue size and limited pegging availability.

C.M.F.C.Rules & Regulations

• The Canadian Match Fishing Chsmpionships is a catch and release event.
• The angler with the heaviest weight total shall be declared the winner.
• In the event of a tie on weight, the angler with the most fish shall be declaired the winner.
• It is the responsibility of all anglers to remove all garbage from their pegs.Garbage bags will be supplied to all anglers for the removal of garbage from their pegs.
• Match begins with the All in signal.
• Match ends with the All out signal.
• Fishing before the All in signal is not permitted.
• Fishing after the All out signal is not permitted.
• Pre-baiting before the All in signal is not permitted.
• The checking of swim depth, mixing ground bait, rigging of tackle and the placement of keepnets are permitted before the All in signal.
• One rod/pole in the water at one time.
• One hook per line.
• Pole length limit of 13 meters maximum.
• Anglers are not permitted to leave their peg except for emergencies & calls of nature.
• In the event of emergencies or calls of nature, anglers are required to remove their rod/pole from the water.
• Anglers will be permitted to position themselves a maximum of 3 feet or an arm’s length on either side of the ground peg.
• Anglers are not permitted to position themselves in the water.
• Anglers must land their own fish.
• Outside assistance will be granted to anglers who are physically challenged or disabled. Assistance will be granted prior to the peg draw on day one.
• The use of cell phones, walkie-talkies, two-way radios or any other electrical means of communication during the match is not permitted.
• Match official (Jeff Turner) may have use of a cell phone for the purpose of emergencies only.
• All anglers must adhere to the bait limits at all times.
• Dead fish or fish showing signs of distress will not be permitted for Weigh In.
• Conservation catch and possession limits outlined in the Ontario Provincial regulations summary, will be followed by all anglers while fishing any C.M.F.C.event. Any fish unintentionally caught after these limits have been reached must be immediately released.
• Any fish caught after the conservation limits has been reached will not be eligible for weigh in.
• Under the 2004 Ontario Provincial recreational fishing regulation summary, it is illegal to attempt to catch fish for which the season is closed, even if you are going to release them.
• In the event that a fish is caught unintentionally, for which the season is closed, it must immediately be released and will not be eligible for weigh in.
• Upon completion of an angler’s Weigh In, all anglers are responsible to release their fish in a safe and proper manner.
• In the event of discrepancies with regards to fishing rules and regulations within Ontario, the 2004 Ontario Provincial recreational fishing summary shall be consulted. Its ruling shall be final.
• Anglers who willfully cause damage or harm to fish, wildlife and the environment while in attendance at the Canadian Match Fishing Championships will be immediately disqualified from the event.
• Anglers will be permitted to pre-fish the Canadian Match Fishing Championships venue stretch up to one week prior to the event. Anglers will be permitted to pre-fish until 5.00 P.M. on the Sunday prior to the Canadian Match Fishing Championships.
• Anglers will be permitted to pre-fish South of Little River Boulevard during the week leading up to the match. All other areas will be deemed off limits.
• Anglers will not discard their groundbait/chum in the water or on the ground after the completion of the match.
• Anglers will discard their groundbait/chum in their supplied garbage bags. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Canadian Match Fishing Championships Bait Limits
(Still water, slow flowing water & small bodies of water)

Corn: 12 oz (one small can)
Maggots/Grubs: one pint total
Worms: one cup
Ground bait/Bread: (Dry) 2 lbs.
Seeds/legumes/hemp etc: one pint total
Meat/shrimp: one cup total

No Live bait permitted (Fish, crawfish etc)

Bait Limits are established for the protection of the delicate fishing environment coupled with allowing the enjoyment of angling to be fully experienced.
